State of the City Address at the November PfCONA Meeting

There was an article in the local newspaper about what City Manager Brandon Wade said at the PfCONA meeting on November 14.

New projects discussed in State of the City address” by James Rincon, The Pflugerville Pflag, November 23, 2011.

In the article there was mention of a new data storage center to be powered by wind energy.

The article did not include information about the location of the turbines for providing the energy. Also, no information about provisions for a backup system was given.

According to The Wind Farm Scam: An Ecologist’s Evaluation, a book by John Etherington, providing a steady supply of electric power from a wind farm requires a backup power source because wind speeds are so variable.

It is interesting that according to pp. 83-84 of the book, some companies are no longer involved in the wind power industry in Britain because the financial support through subsidies etc. in the United States is better. So it has apparently become sensible to move here and benefit from the difference.

It looks as if Pflugerville has been following the lead of Australia and climbing onto the green bandwagon at a time when so many of those already aboard have been getting off.
